Conjure

one of the five is a girl / your sister / not a real sister / a real sister is complicated / flesh and bone / competition / not-a-real sister has no need for oxygen / or birth or chronology / she just is / perfectly formed / singular in design and intention / at night in the warm darkness you lie facing one another / when your eyes close / she is still there / when she closes her eyes / you wait for her return / she comes back / doesn’t she / if you hold your breath long enough / if you outlast the silence
